It's Official...

Christopher is moving. I know several of you know about this or have at least heard about the possibility, but as of Tuesday it's official that I am going to move to New Orleans. This summer I was approached with the possibility of being the minister of youth and music at Grace Baptist Church in New Orleans, and the church voted on it last Sunday and the result was 21 yes and 2 no. So, next Thursday night/Friday morning I will be leaving Seminole to move. The pastor and I have set a one year period to aim for, which could be shortened or lengthened depending on where God leads. This has definitely not been an easy decision to make and it really hit me hard Tuesday when I went to drop all my classes. I had the drop/add card in my hand, walking to the Admissions office, and when I approached the door I had to turn and walk off because I didn't think I could do it. Thankfully I know that I am not alone, and I feel confident that this is what God is leading me to do. Know that I will dearly miss all of you and I am planning on coming back at this point in time to finish college here at ECU. I would definitely appreciate your prayers as I make this difficult move to a place where I may not exactly fit in. I am very nervous and kinda scared because this is 650 miles away from everything I've known for 21 years of my life, and it will just be me. So, please keep me in your prayers and keep me updated on what's going on in your lives. God bless. Take it easy.

Chris

Infuriating...I Just Don't Understand

I'm sure most of you have heard about Westboro Baptist Church and their protests of funerals and such. I don't know if you have visited their website or read the article about them on Wikipedia.com, but I have recently visited these sites to find out more about this so-called church and what I found was very disturbing and extremely saddening. This group of people, who claim to be Christians, do nothing but preach a message of hate and violence claiming that America is doomed and that everyone is going to hell unless you hate fags. Their beliefs are so off-base and way off target. I just don't understand how anyone who professes to be a Christian and claims to believe in Scripture can totally miss out on the God's message of love, grace, mercy, and forgiveness for all people...ALL PEOPLE!!! Their center doctrines are basically the domain name for one of their websties: "God hate fags" and "God hates America".

After reading up on these people for a little while, it has become no surprise to me why so many people in America have no interest whatsoever in Christianity or the God that we Christians serve and worship. I have to admit, if I wasn't already a Christian and I came into contact with the people of WBC, I would not have any interest in wanting to come to know a God who is full of hate, wrath, fury, and punishment. But the fact is, this is NOT my God at all. Yes, God hates sin, BUT He loves the sinner despite what they do and how they treat Him; He does pour out wrath and punishment, BUT He also gives every person a chance to come to know Him and to experience His grace, love, mercy, and forgiveness.

I know this has been not to short of a note, but please don't stop reading just yet because I want to say two more things:

1. If you are a Christian, I want to encourage you to take a stand and show people that our God is so amazing and worth coming to know. Don't scare someone into coming to know God by sharing a message of condemnation with them. Instead, show them the grace, mercy, love, compassion, etc. that our God has to offer them.

2. If you're not a Christian, please don't let these messages of hate turn you away from the greatest thing that could ever happen to you. I assure you, that before God ever punishes or pours out His wrath on people, He does offer a chance for you to come to know His forgiveness, His grace, His love, His compassion, His mercy, etc.

Thank you.

Hmmm...

So, no one ever updates on here anymore it seems.  I would b/c I definitely have the time to do so considering I work in a computer lab 16 hours a week, but I just never have anything worthwhile to say.  My life has been pretty busy lately.  Just finished with the Easter musical/play thing at church.  It went really well, but last week was a very long week.  Fun though.  I'm playing intramural softball this year and I'm excited.  We have our first game tonight.  It'll be fun, minus the fact that it's cold and wet outside, but fun nonetheless.  Other than that not much has been going on.  Hope everyone is doing great.  Take it easy.  God bless.

Thought of the Day:  It's April and it's been 40-50 degrees outside since Friday.  I don't understand!?!?!?!

So, nights like this are the worst. I'm sitting at work (the coffee shop) and I'm so stinkin' tired and I don't feel very good. This makes 4 hours seem like an eternity, especially when you don't really have anyone to hang out with or talk to. Only one more hour left though. May it go quickly. A shower and my bed sound really nice right now...if only...

I haven't updated on here in a while.  I'm so sorry my xanga for the neglect.

To those interested, my life has been insanely busy this past while.  School, work, college ministry and other church things are keeping me tied up constantly, at least it feels that way.  I have, however, managed to cram a little bit of a life in there.  Every now and then I find some time to spend with my Bailey, spend time with  my friends, and try to stay in somewhat decent shape.  Some recent developments have me very excited about certain possibilities right now, details will come later (hopefully).  I hope all is well in your world.  Take it easy and God bless.

Thought of the Day:  "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him."  Hebrews 11:6

In Loving Memory

This one's for you Jamesy-Poo.

Fly away from here today, today, today
And I’ll kiss the morning air and fly away
Fly away from here today"

Hope the flight was amazing. You will be dearly missed my friend and my brother.

James Ray Hensley, 20, was hit in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 about 2 p.m. Sunday near mile marker 82 in Custer County. Investigators said Hensley was walking west on the eastbound shoulder when he apparently ran in front of the truck.
